Before our independence, the British ruled us. So Pakistan adopted Sterling Pound after independence. But after 1948, the State bank of Pakistan issued banknotes.

In 1990, 1 US dollar was equal to 21.91 Pakistani rupees. 1 USD to PKR in 1992 became equal to 25.08 rupees. 1 USD to PKR in 1995 was equal to 31.64 rupees. All the above exchange rates showed a gradual devaluation of Pakistani currency as compared to USD.

USD to PKR Relations
At the time of independence of Pakistan in 1947, it was strong support from Britain's sterling pound to the Pakistani rupee that kept 1 US dollar to PKR in 1947 below 10 rupees. After Pakistan adopted USD as Foreign Currency Exchange, there has been a gradual increase in USD against PKR.
